With parts of western Sydney experiencing some of the Country’s largest population growth, there is an organisation focus on improving the health and wellbeing of western Sydney families, and in particular focusing on the early childhood years.

Thrive@Five in Doonside

As part of this focus, WentWest along with a variety of community organsiations work together to deliver Thrive@Five in Doonside – a place based early childhood intervention program aimed at improving Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) scores in Doonside (a suburb of Blacktown). Childhood Immunisation

Feeding into both national and local health initiatives for the Primary Health Network is a focus toward enhanced childhood immunisation rates and full completion of the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule. Since 2011, WentWest has facilitated its Immunisation Bike Competition, a region wide initiative encouraging childhood immunisation in partnership with local practices. The annual competition runs from October through to February each year.

HealthOne

Together with its partner, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) WentWest supports the delivery of HealthOne in western Sydney. HealthOne aims to create a stronger and more efficient primary health care system by bringing general practice, primary and community health care services together. With a focus on at-risk children and families (together with people living with chronic and complex care needs). HealthOne operates across several sites within western Sydney including Mount Druitt, Blacktown/Doonside, the Hills, Parramatta/Merrylands and Auburn.
