Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) provides a framework to support the national reconciliation movement in Western Sydney and contributes to supporting and developing respectful relationships that create meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan

Our current RAP Reflect sets out the minimum elements required to build strong relationships, respect and opportunities within the organisation and the Western Sydney community.

Launched in 2018, Reflect contributes to reconciliation by providing holistic and culturally appropriate support to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Committing to the Reflect RAP and the ongoing contribution from the RAP Working Group has allowed us to strengthen our connection with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. We continue to develop these important relationships to help us provide excellent service to our Western Sydney community. Staff awareness of Aboriginal culture and history has been a key focus over the last 12 months with new initiatives and policies established as part of our Reflect deliverables. Our Reflect RAP deliverables were successfully completed in September 2019 and we now look towards developing the next stage of reconciliation journey by establishing an Innovate RAP in 2020.

RAP Working Group

Our RAP Working Group (RWG) is comprised of representatives from all areas of our organisation. Members come from a diverse range of cultures and currently, our RWG includes five staff members who identify as Aboriginal peoples. The group meets monthly to establish priorities and provide updates on the progress of the RAP initiatives. This allows the group to ensure deliverables are met on time and helps identify any possible issues that may arise. Since the launch of the Reflect RAP, the RWG has worked towards creating policies, improved processes and staff engagement and arranged cultural events for staff, providing opportunities to collaborate and engage with local Aboriginal community organisations which have strengthened relationships and enhanced staff awareness.

Our Mission and Values

We focus on the improvement of the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Western Sydney to ensure we deliver integrated, culturally appropriate support to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
