We are pleased to announce we have launched an Urgent Care Clinician Line, providing Western Sydney general practices fast-track access to book their patients into urgent care services, following a clinical assessment.

The Urgent Care Clinician Line is available to GPs, paramedics, medical staff at emergency departments, and selected virtual support services in Western Sydney. Health professionals can call the Urgent Care Clinician Line on 1800 697 617, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm.

Accessing the Urgent Care Clinician Line

Before calling the Urgent Care Clinician Line, patients should be assessed (triaged and receive a preliminary diagnosis) by an eligible clinician against the urgent care criteria and a referral letter should accompany the patient to the urgent care appointment.

“The booking process was magic. The registered nurse who triaged me had not encountered an Urgent Care Service Centre booking to date. I was offered two appointment times at different Urgent Care Service Centres within the hour. We need more of these clinics.”

Once treated, a patient will be discharged and connected back with their usual GP (via discharge letter and Event Summary uploaded to My Health Record). Please note that urgent care services are not intended or designed to provide chronic and complex care for patients.

For further information about the urgent care patient criteria and the required information to include in the referral letter, please visit Western Sydney HealthPathways. If you require the log in details, please contact the HealthPathways team at healthpathways@wentwest.com.au
