Our Vision is to build healthier communities, empower individuals and support a sustainable primary health care workforce and system.

WentWest

For 20 years WentWest has been part of the Western Sydney community, delivering support and education to primary care health professionals such as general practitioners (GPs), practice nurses and allied health providers, working with key partners to progress the region’s health system.

In July 2015, WentWest became the Western Sydney Primary Health Network (WSPHN), allowing us to expand the work we do with our partners to deliver better health outcomes for the region.

Our Role as a Primary Health Network

Primary Health Networks (PHNs) are a federal government health initiative, established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes and improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place, at the right time. There are 31 PHNs across Australia.

In our role as the Western Sydney Primary Health Network we focus on addressing national and regional health priorities in consultation and partnership with local GPs, allied health professionals, consumers and community bodies and the broader health sector.

Addressing Health Priorities

We’re focused on addressing the region’s most pressing health challenges and finding service providers to meet the health needs of Western Sydney community members. Together with health professionals, partners from both the health and hospital sector and community members, we’ve identified health service gaps and work towards commissioning solutions in priority areas.

WSPHN covers a region that encompasses the following four Local Government Areas:
  • Blacktown
  • Cumberland
  • Parramatta
  • The Hills Shire

Our Mission

Working in partnership to lead better system integration and coordination, strengthening equity and empowerment for Western Sydney communities and the people who care for them.
