“We are on this earth for a very short time. It is our responsibility to contribute to build a stronger and healthier future for our next generation.” Steven Adams OAM.
WentWest is incredibly proud to share that Board member, Steven Adams has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for “service to the Indigenous community through a range of roles”.
A proud Kamilaroi man, Steven is a highly respected leader in Indigenous community engagement, with a career spanning partnerships across community, government and industry.
WentWest Acting Chief Executive, Jane Assange said the recognition reflects Steven’s lifetime of commitment to stronger outcomes across health, education and employment for First Nations communities.
“Steven’s contribution spans decades, beginning at just 17 years old. His work is guided by a powerful belief that we all have a responsibility to future generations.
“WentWest is honoured to work alongside Steven and grateful for the leadership, insight and dedication he brings to improving outcomes for Western Sydney communities. His impact is felt across the communities he serves.”

“Smiling, healthy, confident kids and young adults – their strength is our future.” Steven said.
“By partnering directly with Elders and community members, we ensure our people see their own stories, language, and identity, fostering a lasting sense of collective ownership, pride, and true self-determination.”
