Registrations are now open for WentWest’s inaugural Blacktown Healthcare Neighbourhood Networking Event on 24 September, bringing together health professionals, community organisations and local partners to help shape a more connected approach to health care across Blacktown.

The event marks the introduction of WentWest’s newest place-based initiative. Expanding from the Cumberland Healthcare Neighbourhood, the Blacktown approach builds on existing work across the region, focusing on priorities, partnerships and community.

Local Connections for Local Needs

The Western Sydney Primary Health Network 2025-28 Needs Assessment [1] highlights why a local approach matters.

  • Blacktown is Western Sydney’s largest local government area, with almost four in every 10 residents in the Western Sydney PHN region living locally.
  • Seven in 10 First Nations people in the Western Sydney PHN region call Blacktown home, making it Australia’s largest urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Blacktown records the region’s highest prevalence of several chronic conditions, including diabetes, asthma, arthritis and mental health conditions.
  • Mental health remains a growing challenge across Western Sydney, particularly among younger people.
  • Housing affordability pressures and other social factors continue to affect health and wellbeing for many residents.

The Blacktown Healthcare Neighbourhood will help turn this evidence into local action by bringing together primary care providers, community organisations and local partners to strengthen relationships, improve referral pathways and support more coordinated, person-centred care.

The networking series will provide opportunities to share knowledge, better understand available services, and identify practical ways to improve access to care, care coordination and health outcomes for the Blacktown community.

Be Part of the Conversation

Health, social care and community sector professionals are invited to connect with partners from across the region, contribute local insight and help identify shared priorities for more coordinated care.
