HealthPathways: A Fundamental Tool for All Health Professionals

As the Western Sydney Primary Health Network, we’ve partnered with the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) for ten years to deliver the Western Sydney HealthPathways tool. This valuable online resource provides health professionals with quick and easy access to localised, up-to-date, evidence-based information, resources, and referral options on a range of clinical categories.

In 2022, Western Sydney HealthPathways was used over 157,000 times by health professionals across Western Sydney to assess, manage, refer and educate patients. The HealthPathways platform currently encompasses over 620 pathways, with new pathways added each month. Pathways are developed and regularly updated by the local HealthPathways clinical editorial team consisting of over 550 Western Sydney subject matter experts, including medical, dental, nursing, allied health specialists, pharmacists and general practitioners.

“HealthPathways proved invaluable for GPs in Western Sydney to get the extra help that inTouch’s COVID-19 service could provide for many of their more complex and vulnerable patients isolating at home with COVID-19. And soon after the introduction of oral antivirals, inTouch doctors became a great resource for GPs who were coming to grips with the unique requirements around prescribing these – with HealthPathways providing the 1800 number that linked them in so easily.”
