Alcohol and Other Drugs. WentWest, as the Western Sydney Primary Health Network has been contracted by the Department of Health to increase the service delivery capacity of the AOD treatment sectors.

Clinical governance

Clinical governance is about leadership, and fostering a culture that is professional, transparent and just. As a Primary Health Network, WentWest has an obligation to provide care that could not be reasonably foreseen to injure or harm others. Anticipating risks, and taking care to prevent them, can only happen in an environment that embraces clinical governance wholeheartedly.


Commissioning refers to a continuous cycle of developing and implementing health services based on a rigorous process of planning, procurement, monitoring and evaluation.


Patient Centred Medical Home. The PCMH model that WentWest has adopted (Bodenheimer Model) is well documented and researched, and advocates enhanced patient access to comprehensive, coordinated, evidence-based, interdisciplinary care. PCMH is in its early stages of adoption within Australia, however, has made significant inroads in areas such as Boston, USA where the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) leads a changing approach to primary care.


Western Sydney Primary Health Network. Primary Health Networks (PHNs) have been established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.
