Western Sydney GPs now have access to a new national learning hub designed to strengthen early recognition of genetic conditions in primary care.

Funded by WentWest and developed in Western Sydney, the PRECISE Genomics in Primary Care Hub, delivered by Medcast, offers rapid, point‑of‑care education and practical tools tailored specifically for general practice.

Genomics is increasingly part of everyday medicine — from pregnancy care and paediatrics to familial cancer and chronic disease. The PRECISE hub responds directly to what GPs say they need most: clear, clinically relevant genomic guidance that fits into real‑world consultations.

The platform provides:

  • Point‑of‑care decision guides
  • Practical genetic testing advice co‑designed with GPs
  • Case‑based webinars across pregnancy and cancer genetics
  • Short e‑learning modules, podcasts and mini‑audits
All content is built for immediate application in general practice.

Clinical Geneticist Dr Alan Ma says the hub gives GPs the tools to recognise genetic red flags, order appropriate first‑tier tests and coordinate timely referrals, helping patients access the right care sooner.

The PRECISE project (Practitioner Readiness, Education, Capabilities with Implementation Science Evaluation) is supported nationally through the Genomics Health Futures Mission.

WentWest is a funding partner, helping ensure Western Sydney practices benefit from the latest genomics education and point‑of‑care support.
