Tuesday 31 March is Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) — a moment to stand proudly with trans and gender‑diverse people across Western Sydney, where vibrant and diverse communities continue to grow despite persistent barriers to visibility and safety.

Western Sydney is home to large LGBTQ+ populations spread across suburbs including Parramatta, Blacktown, Auburn, Fairfield, Penrith, Liverpool, Bankstown and Campbelltown, all of whom are supported through ACON Westie — a dedicated platform for queer and trans communities in the region. ACON Westie connects locals to community stories, health services, events and peer support, helping to ensure trans people in Western Sydney can access culturally diverse and affirming spaces.

How You Can Support Trans Communities in Western Sydney

You can help strengthen safety, visibility and inclusion for trans people across the region by:

  • Taking other allies on the journey — help educate your networks to ease pressure on trans communities.
  • Speaking trans people’s words with them — amplify trans voices in everyday spaces across Greater Western Sydney, especially in communities where stigma persists.
  • Educating those around you — challenge misinformation and promote understanding in culturally diverse Western Sydney neighbourhoods.
  • Celebrating all forms of gender expression — ensure trans people in Western Sydney feel seen and embraced.
  • Showing up to rallies and events — including the Trans Day of Visibility March & Rally on 29 March 2026 at Pride Square, Newtown, easily accessible by public transport from Western Sydney.
  • Donating to trans-led and trans‑supportive causes — to fund essential services, advocacy and mental health support.
