Our latest Annual Review, ‘Innovate and Create’, celebrates a successful 2020/21, during which WentWest supported 352 Western Sydney general practices, and funded $29.3M in commissioned services and grants in Western Sydney.

The theme of the report reflects our advancement in utilising new technologies and adopting collaborative methodologies to progress health reform in our region. Stepping up as a leader in data and digital tools has propelled our partnership programs to new levels and enabled our staff to adapt to changing working environments during COVID-19.

The needs of our community have continued to be at the heart of our programs as we expand our work with partners. In collaboration with the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), an innovative Rapid Access to Care in the Community pathway, was developed under Western Sydney Care Collective to ensure effective COVID-19 patient management in our community. The rollout of our Value Based Urgent Care and Cardiology in Community pathways, are already helping to transform health care by alleviating the pressure on Emergency Departments by offering alternative services within a primary care setting.

This year, also saw the launch of the Western Sydney Kids Early Years (KEYS) Network. The Kids Early Years (KEYS) Network, is a new initiative being implemented through the Western Sydney Service Delivery Reform, which is a collaborative partnership with the Human Services agencies in Western Sydney aiming to improve service delivery to vulnerable people. KEYS supports families with children aged 0-5 years by aligning social and health sector agendas. WentWest’s development of an Information Sharing Solution will enable cross-agency data exchange between providers.

In the COVID-19 space, WentWest supported the National Vaccination Rollout, assisting general practice, residential aged care facilities (RACFS) and Disability Group Homes. Our staff have helped keep frontline health care workers safe by distributing personal protective equipment and sharing critical COVID-19 communications.

Data utilisation and evidence-based decision-making ensure that the needs of our GPs, service providers, community and staff are being met, and propel us towards our goal of a healthier Western Sydney.

Thank you to all of our partners, health professionals, and community members who have made this year a success. This annual review is a celebration of all of our achievements.
