Health professionals can have a huge impact on their patients’ health through the Heart Foundation’s Walking program.
North Rocks Stratford Road Family Medical Practice continues to run their Walking Group nearly 7 years after their first community walk.
Members of the practice went to initial training and joined the first handful of walks with interested participants.
Walkers were encouraged to join but didn’t have to ‘commit’ to the weekly walk, just whenever suited them. This key consideration was well received and is a key reason why people were initially comfortable to join.
Taking place every Wednesday, the Walking Group has quickly developed a regular crowd of participants and has expanded over the past 7 years with 2 walk leaders now leading the group.
With 84 people registered to walk in the group and a total walk number of 2450 and counting, this initiative has become an important group to the North Rocks area.

Free and easy to join, Heart Foundation Walking offers support and motivation to those wanting to be more physically active or get more out of walking.

In Case Health Professionals Missed It
The recent Primary Care CVD Virtual Roadshow delivered in partnership with the Heart Foundation was an incredible event!
If you missed it, you can view the recording now to catch up! Local issues were addressed throughout, and we had fantastic case-based discussion presented by local Cardiologist and GP on how they are adopting CVD risk assessment and Heart Health Checks in practice.
