SafeScript NSW is a software program developed for medicine prescribers and pharmacists. It provides users with real-time information about high-risk medications being prescribed and dispensed to a patient. Prescribers and dispensers are encouraged to take the information into account when determining the safest and most effective options for their patient. Medicine prescribers can also use this to apply for and manage applications to prescribe monitored medicines including Schedule 8 medicines.

The online tool specifically identifies whether a patient is receiving prescriptions for monitored medicines from multiple prescribers which places them at increased risk of harm. It also details a patient’s total daily dose of opioids and those who may be taking harmful combinations of monitored medicines.

Accessing SafeScript NSW using integrated clinical software allows health practitioners to receive pop-up notifications on their desktop, warning them when a potentially high-risk scenario is detected.

How Do I Register for SafeScript NSW?

Registration is simple and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. You can register for SafeScript NSW online. To receive the pop-up notifications, you can enable SafeScript NSW in your prescribing or dispensing software if you are using integrated clinical software.

If you experience system issues or require assistance, please contact the SafeScript NSW Support team.
