The Western Sydney Immunisation Bike Competition is back for its annual run. Since its inception in 2011, the competition has helped immunise 16,972 children. Last year alone, over 500 children registered through our participating general practices.
The 2024 competition runs until 31 January 2025. Every child who receives their 12-month, 18-month or four-year-old immunisation from a participating practice can enter the annual prize draw to win a bike and helmet. During the competition period, practices are invited to participate to ensure that children are immunised on time, communities are protected, and families are aware of the importance of timely vaccinations.
How Practices Can Participate
General practices in the Western Sydney Primary Health Network area can still express their interest in joining the 2024 Immunisation Bike Competition. Participating practices will receive support and promotional material from our Primary Care Delivery team, including a poster translated in Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Hindi, and Urdu to better serve culturally and linguistically diverse families.
After immunisation, each child will receive a sticker, colouring sheets, and a bravery certificate. We also encourage participating practices to assist eligible families with signing up for the competition through our online patient registration form.
Reminding Your Patients about Childhood Immunisation
We have created the following resources to help practices remind families with children who are due for their immunisation:
- Resource for practices to recall patients due for immunisation
- Resources for practices participating in the Immunisation Bike Competition
We are also offering practices in Western Sydney access to GoShare Plus and SMS credits to enable them to send information to patients about the importance of childhood immunisation. GoShare Plus is available through CAT4. It enables users to identify high-risk patients using a CAT4 recipe and send them an interactive package directly to their mobile phones.
The interactive package consists of video messages from community leaders in different languages, relevant resources encouraging childhood immunisation and your practice details for parents and carers to schedule a vaccination appointment for their children.
