PsychCentral provides culturally competent services to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Western Sydney. Originating in 2005 in South Western Sydney, the team has since expanded its locations to include a Westmead office to cater to the local CALD community.

PsychCentral is a skilled team of allied health professionals who are all bilingual or multilingual. They offer services in a diverse range of languages for clients who may struggle to access mainstream services due to language barriers.

Post-Pandemic Challenges

Triggers such as the effects of being in lockdown, exposure to COVID-19 and continued anxiety around contracting the virus have led to long-term implications for some community members. This might include psychological symptoms such as feelings of isolation and disconnection, sustained low moods, anxiety and fear, and grief after the loss of a loved one during the pandemic period. It can also include physical symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, problems with memory and concentration, and ongoing lethargy.

Having identified that there is a proportion of our community who have struggled with the lived experience of the pandemic, PsychCentral is ready to offer support.

How Can PsychCentral Help?

PsychCentral offers a free program for people in Western Sydney who have been diagnosed by their GP as requiring mental and physical health support. The goal of this program is to improve patients’ health and wellbeing post-pandemic.

By working with mental health and allied health professionals, PsychCentral can offer a supported, well-rounded, and tailored care package for individual patient needs. The team at PsychCentral works closely with GPs to ensure the program has a positive effect on reducing debilitating post-pandemic symptoms.

There is no cost to patients for receiving post-pandemic support.

Additionally, patients who experience long COVID may struggle with the impact of the illness on their daily activities. PsychCentral also offers a free program with qualified allied health professionals who provide mental and physical health support in post-COVID-19 recovery.

Patients can receive up to six sessions from allied mental health professionals focusing on both their physical and mental health needs.
