As a Primary Health Network (PHN), we are assisting to provide additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the National Medical Stockpile to general practices and pharmacies in Western Sydney.

PPE for Health Workforce During COVID-19

The Australian Government has confirmed that the distribution of PPE through the Living with COVID measure ceased on 31 December 2022. There will be no further extensions. The Department of Health and Aged Care’s contract with DHL for the distribution of PPE was ceased on 31 December 2022 and no deliveries will be made after this date.

For more information, please contact our team at support@wentwest.com.au

To support practices during the COVID-19 outbreak in NSW, the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) provided PHNs an allocation of PPE for general practices to enable health professionals to see patients safely during the outbreak and to assist practices in accessing PPE when supplies are unavailable. The DoHAC is now streamlining this process and managing the distribution of PPE nationally.

Living with COVID PPE Bundles

Under the Australian Government’s Living with COVID Primary Care package, PPE bundles are available under emergency conditions to:

  • GPs, Aboriginal and Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) and GP-led Respiratory Clinics (GPRCs) willing to manage COVID-19 positive patients face-to-face, until 30 September 2022
  • ACCHS and rural and remote GPs willing to manage COVID-positive patients virtually and respiratory patients face-to-face, where workforce capacity is limited and the GP is serving the community for most or all health needs, until 30 September 2022
  • All GPs and GPRCs willing to manage COVID positive people virtually, and respiratory patients face-to-face, until 30 September 2022
  • Community pharmacists who are administering COVID-19 vaccinations and booster doses, until 30 September 2022
  • Allied Health professionals under emergency conditions where there is no local supply available commercially, or from another State or Territory government scheme, until 30 September 2022.

Living with COVID PPE Bundles can be ordered nationally through PHNs using a single PPE Order Form and delivered directly by a national distributor (rather than via PHNs).
