Healthicare is a locally-led initiative, established in partnership with the Mt Druitt Medical Practitioners Association and was supported by WentWest.
What is Healthicare?
Healthicare consists of a service delivery arm located within the ‘hub’ at Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology Hub (BEST) and provide a broader support function to local practices within the Healthcare Neighbourhood.
Healthicare is a new approach to the delivery of health care, with links to social, education, disability, housing and other services, is required to address the social determinants of poor health outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. In partnership with the Mt Druitt Medical Practitioners Association (MDMPA), Healthicare acts as a Neighbourhood Health Hub.
A Neighbourhood Health Hub
A purpose-built Neighbourhood Health Hub, supporting the community and neighbouring health care providers, Healthicare can take the region to the next level of service delivery.
Aligned to the recommendations in the Primary Health Care 10-Year Plan, Healthicare aims to build the primary health care workforce in the region, tailored to the community and working in partnership with other providers, to deliver affordable, accessible, preventative, quality health care.
Healthicare’s purpose is to work collaboratively with health care professionals, with the aim of strengthening our health ecosystem, at a regional level.
Healthicare, in partnership with neighbouring general practices, will support GP led shared-care beacon clinics for patients living with complex chronic disease and for vulnerable families, underpinned by the principles of Patient Centred Medical Home that is patient-centred, accessible, comprehensive, coordinated and continuous care, committed to quality and safety.
Where is the Healthicare Hub?
Located at the Blacktown Exercise Sport and Technology Hub (BEST) on the beautiful grounds of the Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP), Healthicare works alongside Blacktown City Council, the Australian Catholic University, Sydney West Sports Medicine and the AFL in the new cutting edge $100M facility. BEST will deliver world-class facilities, patient care and rehabilitation services alongside leading education and research programs right in the heart of Western Sydney.
Originally developed for the Sydney 2000 Olympic games, Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP) has continued to grow its reputation as a world-class venue for sporting teams and the local community.
The collaboration between education, health, sports medicine, research and high-performance sport is creating a dynamic interchange of ideas that will drive positive health and sporting outcomes for the community.
Working with Health Care Providers
Healthicare’s purpose is to work collaboratively with health care professionals, creating a place to embrace working smarter, not harder. They aim to strengthen the health ecosystem through existing preferred provider agreements.
Healthicare provides a new opportunity for general practitioners in the primary care setting to shift from the transactional fee-for-service (FFS) model to support the implementation of an evidence-based community care model that improves patient health and social outcomes and reduces health care costs at the system level.
Part-time, full-time and Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) opportunities will be available.

Core Principles
Building a sustainable ecosystem for general practitioners within our local health community, assisting with the complexity of disease management.
Providing access to quality health care and health literacy for all children and families to build healthier communities and empowered individuals.
A multidisciplinary team of coordinated care between general practice and your local hub.
Improving coordination of care for children and families at risk of poor health outcomes to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients.
The ability to adapt and change for the local community and in extended support for surrounding practices.
Integrated Health and Wellbeing Technology
In an Australian first, Healthicare will integrate advanced technologies, connecting the community to a proactive and accessible health and wellbeing ecosystem tailored to their needs.
These technologies aim to amplify Healthicare’s support for the health and wellbeing of the local community. Data feeds from wearable health sensors will be securely relayed to update Healthicare providers about a patient’s progress with treatment plans, while also motivating the community towards more healthy behaviours such as regular exercise routines, healthy eating plans and chronic disease management tips.
Healthicare Partnerships
WentWest and the Mt Druitt Medical Practitioners Association (MDMPA) joined forces to establish Healthicare, a Neighbourhood Health Hub.
Healthicare is also supported by Blacktown City Council, the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, community organisations and local schools to provide connections to community, bringing health and wellbeing to BEST.
