We have been working with One Door Mental Health (One Door) for over four years to provide recovery-focused programs in non-clinical environments to help people with complex mental health needs build meaningful, safe lives in the community. Over half of their national team have lived experience, which can help build relationships with clients on connection and empathy.

Kinga Barron, Chief Operating Officer at One Door explains the importance of having a purpose-driven and experienced team to support the community.

“Everyone who is working for One Door is purpose-driven and what that means for us is we want to give back to community. Our knowledge is strengths-based, which means we believe in recovery, and we believe in the good in people. Changes need to happen, not just in Australia but everywhere else, so that people living with a mental health challenge are not judged and that labelling stops. We need to start learning and listening to people with lived experience on how to support them and understanding that the majority of people are affected directly or indirectly by a mental health challenge.”

One Door Programs in Western Sydney

The Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program

Psychosocial support is provided to adults with severe mental illness and psychosocial impairment who are not currently supported by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The Commonwealth Psychosocial Support program (CPS) helps build people’s social skills, capacity to manage daily activities, rebuild and maintain connections, and education and employment opportunities. We are happy to share that 600 clients were supported through CPS with 5834 sessions carried out in the 2022-23 financial year.
