SafeScript NSW is a software program developed to provide information for prescribers and pharmacists about high-risk medications being prescribed and dispensed to patients. This online tool identifies patients receiving prescriptions for monitored medicines from multiple prescribers which places them at increased risk of harm. Details will also be provided about a patient’s total daily dose of opioids and those who may be taking harmful combinations of monitored medicines.

The objective of SafeScript NSW is to deliver information about monitored medications the patient has received so that prescribers and dispensers can take this into account when they are determining the safest and most effective option to suit each patient’s needs.

How do prescribers and pharmacists register for SafeScript NSW?

To support the rollout of SafeScript NSW, prescribers and pharmacists are invited to complete the accredited eLearning modules (NPS MedicineWise sign-in required) and learn about the support available, including a dedicated 24/7 clinical advice line (1800 434 155) and technical support.

HealthPathways is another useful source of information about SafeScript NSW. To access HealthPathways, you will need the general login details. For more information, please contact our HealthPathways team at healthpathways@wentwest.com.au
