The year has been a challenging year for everyone, with that in mind we are now more than ever working and engaging with local consumers, carers, providers and many community organisations to help provide free access to psychological and psychiatry services for people experiencing hardship in the Western Sydney region.

Over the past 10 months, the Primary Mental Health Care Service has expanded significantly and the demand for this program has reached record levels. Our Mental Health team is appropriately managing these requests accordingly to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone.

We are implementing a management process so the service can be provided equitably across the Western Sydney region. These steps are being taken to ensure minimal disruption to the referral process and to the services people receive. As a result, GPs will now need to ensure that referred patients have a verified health care card and that you record these details on the referral form.

We have also recently updated our referral form which can be found as a quick access button on the home page of our website for your convenience. Please ensure you download the form and ‘save as’ on your computer after you have finished completing the editable fields and send it to our secure fax number on (02) 8208 9941. Our Mental Health team will not accept any referrals received via email due to patient confidentiality. Please ensure all information on the referral form is completed as incomplete forms will delay the approval and process of the patient’s referral.

If you would like to determine the boundaries of individual Primary Health Networks (PHNs), please visit the Department of Health website. Please enter the full address as areas of some suburbs may be serviced by different PHN’s.
